The goal of the Savvy Health Solutions Internship Program is to provide a relevant and successful learning experience for participants who are interested in exploring a career path in a Health and Wellness related field.

This program will provide interns the opportunity to apply the concepts and skills gained during their academic program to a "real world" health and wellness setting. During the Intern program, interns will participate in the facilitation of personal training sessions, program design, group exercise classes, fitness assessments, functional movement screens, health education classes, fun runs, and other wellness related activities as assigned.

We seek individuals who work with a sense of energy, passion, and personal responsibility taking on whatever they possibly can for the good of the team. Ideal applicants possess the following qualifications:

Education

Enrolled in a college undergraduate or graduate degree program in related curriculum (e.g., exercise science, kinesiology, physiology, athletic training, or physical education) and/or a graduate of a Health and Fitness related Trade School.

Certification  (Preferred but not required)

National Certification approved by the National Commission for Certifying Agency (NCCA), or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, which may include one of the following:

a.  American Council on Exercise (ACE)
b.  American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
c.  National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)
d.  National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)

Experience  (Preferred but not required)

Experience providing individual or group exercise programming for a variety of disciplines as well as working with high risk populations.

Additional Certification

CPR, AED

While the Savvy Health Solutions Internship Program at SMUD is unpaid, the duration as well as the working hours for each internship can be flexible and is determined on an individual basis over the course of the interview process.
